World History of Bingo
People in France started playing a variation of bingo in the late 1770s, which soon became a widely accepted form of the game throughout the country. In this version, 90 balls and cards were used and the winner was decided by whoever could fill their card first. Over time, bingo underwent many structural and cultural transformations. After the introduction of the UK's Betting and Gaming Act of 1960, bingo's popularity rose to new heights.
The advent of online bingo in 2002 took the game out of town halls and into players' living rooms. This was a significant development in the game's history, and has turned it into a multi-million dollar industry. Like the Internet, online bingo has constantly expanded and evolved. Thanks to online bingo's widespread adoption, people of all ages are enjoying this exciting from the comfort of their homes. Teachers are even using the game as an educational tool.
Online bingo first became popular in the United States, but was soon adopted by the UK. It has since become a multi-million pound industry in the UK alone. Gradually, online bingo game sites have begun to create a sense of community amongst players. This expansion of social circles was further fuelled by the growth of Internet capabilities such as the chat functionalities found on most bingo sites.
